Description

The PIR-BL7 is a weatherproof CCTV security camera with a built-in PIR motion sensor light and alarm relay inputs / outputs. The security light consists of 30 white LEDs and serves a dual purpose as an intruder deterrent system and illumination for video capture. This camera does not use infrared technology. Instead, the camera always operates in color and during night time operations the built-in motion detector senses movement of human-sized objects when they come approximately within 30 feet of the PIR sensor. When motion is detected, the white LEDs turn on and illuminate the area that the camera is providing video surveillance for.

The PIR-BL7 is a 960H resolution CCTV camera which means that it captures video at 976 x 494 pixels and works with 960H and D1 analog DVRs. The 2.8-12mm varifocal lens can be adjusted using the zoom and focus rings located on the bottom side of the camera housing. This camera uses the latest 1/3" 960H Sony Super HAD II CCD (image sensor).

The PIR-BL7 uses Sense-Up image intensifier technology to capture color video in low light, however, this camera will not capture images well in zero light until the LED lights turn on. Watch this demo surveillance video to see the camera operate in normal light and night time with the lights on. Click here to see pictures of a home surveillance system installation that uses the PIR-BL7.

This surveillance camera has built-in alarm relays and a digital output that can be used to integrate with additional security and alarm functions.

Please Note: We also sell a stand-alone outdoor PIR sensor that can integrate with security camera systems and IP cameras.

Surveillance Videos

This video demonstrates the normal light and low light capability of the PIR-BL7. This room is 13 feet wide by 21 feet long. The camera is mounted in the corner of the room, 8 feet high. See how the PIR sensor detects when Mike enters the room and turns the LED lights on.

Important Note: Click the gear icon in the lower right of the video player and select 1080p resolution.

Concealed Cable Mounting Bracket

IR Security Camera Housing

The bracket included with this camera completely conceals the video, power, and alarm cables of the camera. The bracket is also a tri-axis style which allows you to rotate the body of the camera in any direction to get the exact view that you want.

Cable Installation

The PIR-BL7 has 3 cables: a power input that can accept a 12V DC or 24VAC power supply. a BNC female video output, and an alarm relay input / output terminal block.

Alarm Input / Output Integration

This CCTV camera can be integrated with other security and alarm components using the alarm inputs and outputs. Please refer to the below wiring diagrams to discover some of the possible uses.

Alarm Relay Output

Terminals A and B make up an alarm relay output that can be connected to devices that provide their own power. Devices such as sirens, strobe lights, and signs can be used. In the above diagram, the relay is connected to an alarm siren. The alarm relay output is normally closed (NO) which means that no power flows through the circuit by default. The relay closes when either one of two events occurs: 1) The PIR motion sensor detects motion. 2) If you have an alarm input connected to terminals C and F, this sensor will also trigger the relay when opened.

Important note: the relay output has the following capacity.
  • Nominal switching capacity (resistive load): 2 A 30 V DC
  • Max switching power (resistive load): 60 W
  • Max switching voltage: 220 V DC
  • Max switching current: 2 A
This makes it suitable for use with just about any low voltage alarm component, but check the specs of the device that you are using to be sure.

Disable Alarm Relay in Day Time Mode

By default, the motion sensor triggers the alarm relay output in both day and night modes. If you want to disable the alarm relay output during the day, you can connect terminal D to terminal F. If you do this, the relay out will ONLY be triggered by the PIR sensor in night mode. This also disables the relay output from being triggered by the relay input (see below) in day mode.

Alarm Relay Input

Terminals C and F make-up an alarm relay input that can be used to connect devices such as magnetic door sensors to trigger the alarm input of the camera. This relay is normally closed (NC) so if you hook up a magnetic door sensor, the relay is triggered when the door is opened. When this alarm relay is triggered, two things happen: 1) The alarm relay output is enabled (so if you have a strobe light connected, as explained above, it will activate) and 2) The digital output is also turned on. The digital output is explained below and is typically connected to a recording device, such as a DVR.

Digital Alarm Ouput

Terminals E and F make-up a digital alarm output that is triggered when either of these events occurs: 1) The PIR sensor detects motion or 2) The alarm relay input is triggered. The digital alarm out can be connected to the alarm input of a surveillance DVR and used to trigger the DVR to begin recording. Check out these instructions on how to setup alarm input recording using iDVR-PRO CCTV DVRs.
