What is a motorized varifocal lens camera?
A motorized varifocal lens camera is a type of video surveillance camera equipped with a varifocal lens that can be adjusted mechanical to change the focal length / lens zoom level. Unlike a fixed lens security camera, which has a set field of view, or a manual varifocal lens, which requires physical adjustments by a person's hand, a motorized varifocal lens allows users to control the zoom and focus through software interfaces on a DVR / NVR, a mobile app, or web browser.
- How can I control the motorized varifocal lens of my security camera? - Viewtron security camera DVRs and NVRs have PTZ controls that allow you to zoom the lens of your motorized varifocal camera. You can use any of these Viewtron hybrid DVRs to control CCTV cameras with motorized zoom lenses. - Can they be used outdoors? - Yes. Our the Viewtron cameras on this page have an IP67 weatherproof rated housing so that they can be installed in outdoor environments. You can also use them indoors.
- Can they see in the dark? - Yes, the IP cameras and CCTV cameras on this page have built-in IR LEDs (infrared) which allows them to see clearly in low light and zero light environments. There is a light sensor on the camera that detects when light levels are low and automatically switches the camera into infrared night vision mode.
- What type of NVR can the IP camera models be connected to? - Our Viewtron IP cameras are ONVIF compliant so that it can work with any ONVIF compatible NVR. However, CCTV Camera Pros highly recommends using a Viewtron NVR will all Viewtron IP cameras.
- What type of DVR can the CCTV camera models be connected to? - Our Viewtron CCTV cameras are 4-in-1 selectable HD-over-Coax type cameras. Users can easily choose AHD, HD-TVI, HDCVI, and analog CCTV (CVBS) video format using the small joystick that is attached to the camera's video cable. We have 1080p / 2 Megapixel HD video resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels) models that support for AHD, HD-TVI, and HD-CVI modes. 960H (960 x 480) resolution is supported in analog CCTV mode. We also have 4MP (4 megapixel 180 CCTV camera models) that will work with 4MP compatible DVRs (AHD, HD-TVI, HD-CVI formats supported). - What type of cable is used for the CCTV cameras with motorized zoom lens? - CCTV cameras are hard wired to a DVR using coax cable for CCTV cameras.
- Can I use a mobile app to control the motorized lens? - Yes. All Viewtron cameras on this page can be viewed remotely with the Viewtron mobile app for iPhone and Android when you also use a Viewtron DVR or NVR. The mobile app allows you to control the lens remotely. This is very helpful during installation to adjust the camera to the exact angle of view / zoom level. - Do your motorized lens security cameras have AI software? - Yes. All of the IP camera models are AI security cameras that are capable of detecting people, cars, and faces.
Watch this video to see the range of view that the 2.8-12mm motorized varifocal lens of the Viewtron IP-A8DZ. You can see that the lens is able to zoom into small text 80 feet away so that a human can rad it clearly. Notice how smoothly the camera lens auto-focuses as the motorized lens is adjusted from the NVR. You can also adjust the lens from the mobile app for iPhone and Android which is very handy during installation.
