Mac Compatible PTZ Camera Controls from Web Browser
Viewtron hybrid HD-SDI CCTV DVRs support Mac compatible PTZ camera controls using the remote DVR viewer interface. Users can access the DVR that their pan, tilt, zoom camera is connected to from Firefox, Chrome, and Safari web browsers. The user experience on both Windows and Mac operating systems is the same with Viewtron DVRs.
For the best viewing experience, start playing the video, then select the highest video quality setting by clicking on the video settings button.
If you were able to select 720p or 1080p video, you should also select full-screen mode to see the video larger. You can break out of full-screen mode by clicking on the Esc button on your keyboard.
In this video, we will demonstrate the remote pan tilt zoom controls of a PTZ camera connected to a Viewtron surveillance DVR. We remotely access the DVR interface from a Firefox web browser on a Mac computer. The DVR prompts us for our login information for access. Once we log in, we can see the live view all the 8 cameras connected to the DVR. I select the record stream option so that the camera resolution is higher. I can change from the 8 camera view to a 4 camera view by clicking on the grid button. I double click on camera 8 which is our PTZ camera. Once I am viewing a PTZ camera in single screen view, I can use the PTZ controls to move the camera and zoom the lens in and out. This dumpster is located 110 feet away from where our PTZ camera is mounted. I will use the controls to center on the dumpster and zoom into the phone number on it. Notice that the camera only moves slightly if I tap the controls slightly and moves more if I hold them longer. The phone number is printed in 2" letters, which can be seen clearly using this cameras 12x optical zoom lens. Although in this video we used a Mac PC to remotely access the DVR and control the camera, the interface works exactly the same on Windows PCs. In addition to support for remote access from Windows and Mac PCs, Viewtron surveillance DVRs also include free mobile apps for iPhone, iPad, and Android devices. Users can control PTZ cameras from the mobile apps as well. For more information, please visit www.viewtron.com
