IP LPR Camera / License Plate Recognition
The IP LPR cameras (license plate recognition) on this page are used in traffic video surveillance systems. For installers that prefer to use IP based video surveillance solutions, the LPR cameras on this page are a great choice. These LPR IP cameras all have specially built in software that enables them to capture clear enough video to be able to identify the numbers and letters on license plates of moving cars.
Some customers mix the terms and concepts of license plate recognition (LPR) and automatic number plate recognition (ANPR). Generally, LPR is used to describe surveillance cameras that are capable of capturing license plates clear enough for humans and machines to recognize. For example, if you record video to a DVR and go back to review footage, the license plates can be read. ANPR generally refers to software that can identify license plates and take some type of action such as recording the plate number to a database or matching the plate against a database list for access control (like opening a gate).
Designing a surveillance system with LPR is typically more technical than designing a traditional CCTV system. The trained video surveillance engineers at CCTV Camera Pros can assist you in planning and help design a system based on your specific requirements and goals. NOTE: Please Read Install / Positioning Guide prior to purchasing an LPR camera.

IP Camera with License Plate Recognition
The above image shows the LPR mode settings for the Zavio IP camera models that support license plate recognition. A typical traffic surveillance system would include one camera configured to capture license plates and a second camera to record an overview of the traffic that is being monitored. The camera used to monitor the plates is typically focused on a more narrow / zoomed-in area about the width of a single lane of traffic. The lens of the overview camera is usually adjusted much wider to capture the vehicles and surrounding area.
