This article will walk the user through the step by step process of updating the firmware on a Geovision IP surveillance camera. If you would like to update the firmware remotely, please visit our Geovision Camera Remote Firmware Update article.



Geovision IP Camera Firmware Update

1. First download the correct firmware for your camera from the link here : Geovision IP Camera Firmware. Make sure that you choose the correct model number. In this example I will be updating the GV-BX520D. I first find the correct firmware based on my cameras model number (1.1). Then I click the Download button (1.2) and save it to an easy to find location on the PC. (Shown Below)



2. Now install the GV IP Device Utility from the disc included with your Geovision camera onto a PC connected to the same network as the Geovision camera, then go ahead and launch it. Click the Search button (2.1) in the upper left to find the camera that you wish to update. (Shown Below)



3. Once the camera appears, left click the IP Address (3.1). Then click Configure (3.2) on the pop up menu. (Shown Below)



4. On the Configure menu, enter the cameras Username and Password (4.1) (The default username and password is "admin"). Then click the Firmware Upgrade tab (4.2). Now click the Browse button (4.3) and locate the firmware file that you downloaded in the previous steps. Once you have selected the correct firmware file go ahead and click the Upgrade button (4.4) to begin the update. (Shown Below)



5. Under the Note tab, it will display Firmware Updating (5.1). Once the update is complete, the Note tab will display Firmware Update Finished (5.2). (Shown Below)
